| Although many descriptions of this heron states it's most active at dusk and at night. I visited this rookery at 8 a.m. Every member of this colony was wide awake and vocal. This medium-sized stocky heron has a short neck and thick black bill. Black cap and back its wings are gray with white underparts. |
